The Art of Being with Ana Teresa Fernández

Join us for an artist talk with Ana Teresa Fernández! Learn about what inspires Ana
Teresa to create art that explores issues surrounding borders, gender, identity, community,
and belongingness! Following her talk (2:30-3:30 p.m.), there will be a Collaborative Collage Project
where students can contribute and will be displayed in the Multimodal Lab (BC 102).
Light refreshments will be served!

Meet Writer and Illustrator Zeke Peña
Tuesday, October 7th, 2025, 10:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m., Multimodal Lab (BC 102)
Come learn from storyteller and cartoonist, Zeke Pena, on how to bring your ideas
to life through images and text. No experience needed—just you imagination! Join
for a conversation with Zeke as he shares his journey as an illustrator, the stories
that move him, and how culture and identity shape his art. Come ask questions, get
inspired, and see how stories come to life on paper!

Noche de Fútbol, SBCC Women's Soccer vs Ventura College
Tuesday, October 14th, 6:30-9:00 p.m., SBCC La Playa Stadium
In partnership with SBCC Athletics, Raíces is proud to co-host the 3rd Annual Noche de Fútbol! Come out and cheer on the
SBCC Women's Soccer Team as they take on Ventura College at La Playa Stadium. Enjoy
live halftime performances and grab some delicious eats from Super Grill (tacos!)
and Fernando's Churros before the match. Don't miss the exciting night of fútbol,
food, and community—hope to see you there!

Cash for College: Financial Aid Application Lab (FAFSA/CADAA)
Tuesday, October 21st, 1:00-6:00 p.m., La Plazita (WCC 206)
Need assistance navigating financial aid? Join the upcoming workshop, Cash for College,
hosted by Cal-SOAP, to learn all about the financial aid opportunities available for
college students. Receive one-on-one help applying for financial aid and submitting
your FAFSA or CADAA application at the event. Don't miss this opportunity to fund
your future with confidence!
